  3. what do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
which classes did you take outside of your chosen discipline?
Geology, Economics, Philosophy,
how did you select these classes? (e.g. based on interest or based on requirements for your degree program)
They all fit in to the Arts and Sciences requirements or Science requirements. At CU, I have been unable to take many classes outside of my discipline.
how would you rate the “outside classes”? (e.g. a waste of time or an enrichment of your education)
I think they provide a well-rounded view to current topics. I believe that all students should take part in getting involved or participating in different areas of study while in college. As a CS major, I think there are millions of opportunities in areas outside of corporate databases and boring topics. We should get out there and find these problems to be solved.
if you had a choice: would you take more outside classes?
Yes. I would love to.
to be a well educated graduate in your respective discipline — what do you consider the most important objectives?
The most important objectives are finding your passion and being able to take on a problem with your friends and peers. I think working in groups provides an extreme amount of knowledge and support that is key to success beyond academia.
did CU offer classes for you to meet these objectives?
Leysia Palen's UCD course is a great example.
have you pursued these objectives outside of classes (in other settings at CU; outside of CU)?
I have a job where I employ these passions and take part in the surrounding boulder tech community because the personal relationships are extremely useful and open so many opportunities.
hat do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
I feel that New Media and HCC's most significant impact on my education is the collaboration and communication that results. Tools like Google Docs, Email, and Wikis all form an amazing ways for students to be more creative throughout their education.
