To-Do
Please Answer the following Questions: provide a brief rationale for your answer — not just yes/no answers- which classes did you take outside of your chosen discipline?
- how did you select these classes?
- based on interest
- based on requirements for your degree program
- did would you evaluate the “outside classes”?
- a waste of time
- okay
- an enrichment of your education
- if you had a choice: would you take more outside classes?
- how did you select these classes?
- to be a well educated graduate in your respective discipline — what do you consider the most important objectives?
- did CU offer classes for you to meet these objectives?
- have you pursued these objectives outside of classes (in other settings at CU; outside of CU)?
- what do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
- which classes did you take outside of your chosen discipline?
- I've taken econ classes and history classes and band classes outside my chosen discipline.
- how did you select these classes? (e.g. based on interest or based on requirements for your degree program)
- I took these classes based of my interest in them but also because some parts were required for my degree program.
- how would you rate the “outside classes”? (e.g. a waste of time or an enrichment of your education)
- Some of them I would rate as complete waste of time. Trying to balance these classes and the important classes I feel made my grades suffer just a bit since I couldn't concentrate completely on the classes that really mattered.
- if you had a choice: would you take more outside classes?
- No, I would take less. I find outside classes pointless and unneeded. I came to school to study comp sci not Humanities.
- to be a well educated graduate in your respective discipline — what do you consider the most important objectives?
- Getting a good background in computer science with multiple languages and programs but also concentrating on more specific areas likes graphics or databases or web development.
- did CU offer classes for you to meet these objectives?
- Yes and no. There are areas of concentration but CU doesn't offer a computer graphics/games design concentration yet. So, I pick my concentration based on what the required core classes having some sort of graphics/game design class.
- have you pursued these objectives outside of classes (in other settings at CU; outside of CU)?
- Yes, I have done 3D modeling and used some high end graphics programs in my free time and I've also, spent time looking into going to another school after I graduate to get a degree in game design.
- hat do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
- It's allowed people of same interests as me to share their thoughts and creations more easily and to expand their skills beyond what independently studying the discipline can do.
