To-Do
Please Answer the following Questions: provide a brief rationale for your answer — not just yes/no answers- which classes did you take outside of your chosen discipline?
- how did you select these classes?
- based on interest
- based on requirements for your degree program
- did would you evaluate the “outside classes”?
- a waste of time
- okay
- an enrichment of your education
- if you had a choice: would you take more outside classes?
- how did you select these classes?
- to be a well educated graduate in your respective discipline — what do you consider the most important objectives?
- did CU offer classes for you to meet these objectives?
- have you pursued these objectives outside of classes (in other settings at CU; outside of CU)?
- what do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
- which classes did you take outside of your chosen discipline?
- Outside of CS classes, I have taken the math track of calculus, some physics, some random science classes, and a bunch of humanities classes.
- how did you select these classes? (e.g. based on interest or based on requirements for your degree program)
- I picked physics because I was always good at it in high school and I hated ever other kind of science. For the humanities classes, I took them because I had to. I picked the ones that were specifically for engineers because they are easy. I also picked some ones that my friends said were easy. When it comes to humanities, they are sometimes interesting, but I'm not really interested in most of the topics.
- how would you rate the “outside classes”? (e.g. a waste of time or an enrichment of your education)
- In general, I would say they are not a waste of time. I may not want to take them, but I still learn from them. Some are a huge waste of time, but I have enjoyed others a lot.
- if you had a choice: would you take more outside classes?
- I don't know if I would take more outside classes. I would more so consider auditing them though. I don't really want to have to stress about something, but it would be really fun to take some classes.
- to be a well educated graduate in your respective discipline — what do you consider the most important objectives?
- For CS, I think you need to be a great problem solver and a great coder. Someone should be able to give you a problem that you can solve.
- did CU offer classes for you to meet these objectives?
- Yes. I really enjoy the CS track and I think I'm almost well educated. but not quite there yet.
- have you pursued these objectives outside of classes (in other settings at CU; outside of CU)?
- Not really. I don't have a whole lot of time, but looking back I wish I had done a bit more. Hopefully I can get an internship over the summer which I'm sure will help a lot.
- hat do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
- I really have no idea. As a CS student, new media always changes everything as in it changes what we have to be prepared for when we graduate but it doesn't really seem like it has changed anything. I might have a different outlook of what I'll be doing when I graduate, but I feel that the classes don't need to change that much for this.
