    2. have you pursued these objectives outside of classes (in other settings at CU; outside of CU)?
  3. what do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
which classes did you take outside of your chosen discipline?
I have taken Acting for Non-Majors, Introduction to Theater and Intro to Anthropology 1 & 2.
how did you select these classes? (e.g. based on interest or based on requirements for your degree program)
I took Acting for Non-Majors and Intro to Theater because of interest in theater and acting. I did some acting in high school and earlier. I always enjoyed being on stage and wanted to encourage those interests. I took Anthropology 1 & 2 as prerequisite for another Anthropology class, which would fulfill a requirement for my major.
how would you rate the “outside classes”? (e.g. a waste of time or an enrichment of your education)
The outside classes have been some my favorite classes I have taken at CU. They have given me experiences outside of my areas of study that I could not have had in the engineering school. I have met some wonderful people that I enjoy spending time with. Anthropology 2 with Dennis Van Gerven is still my favorite class I have taken at CU.
if you had a choice: would you take more outside classes?
Yes I absolutely would. Right now I am taking many computer science classes to finish off my major and graduate at the end of this year.
to be a well educated graduate in your respective discipline — what do you consider the most important objectives?
I am studying CS and minoring in Technology, Arts and Media. I would consider understanding how people of different backgrounds and experiences work together one of the most important objectives of my education. Some of the best project I have worked on have been ones where the people in the group are not all in the same major. Everyone has something different to bring to the table, which almost always helps. Even working within my major, the people I work with will have a different area of expertise that helps the group.
did CU offer classes for you to meet these objectives?
For the most part yes. Working within my major can sometimes make it difficult for me to work with students from different backgrounds, but the TAM program has helped with this. The classes outside my major have been fun and a unique experience.
have you pursued these objectives outside of classes (in other settings at CU; outside of CU)?
I have met a lot of people through outdoor activities that I do. They have been able to help me in various ways. Sometimes I will call them if I need some help with homework or a project because they have experience in those areas. It not my intention to befriend these people so they could help me with school work, but it end up working that way some of the time.
hat do you consider the most important impact of new media and human-centered computing on YOUR education?
With everything being online, it is credibly easy to find homework, do homework, find office hours, ask teachers questions, and talk to students. New media helps my education move at similar speed to the rest of the world. HCC has become a large part of our education. Many new ideas and products are coming out to help make education easier for students to access. Students half way around the world can be part of a CU lecture thanks to the internet. New media and HCC have made education more accessible than every, which I consider to be the most important impact.
