4. Why are you interested in taking this course?
I've always been interesting in the way people interact with each other and how that changes with technologies. Part of that is how they interact with technology itself. So I thought this would be a good class that also fit into my schedule and fulfilled minor requirements.


5. What courses / work activities / background knowledge do you have which might be relevant to this course?
CSCI 1300, CSCI 2270, Regularly read Terra Nova and the Daedalus Project

6.1. Describe your programming experience (languages, projects)
Visual Basic.net, C++, RealBasic, MatLab, Game ROM hacking, 3D model file formats, DXT/n rendering and compression

7 Give a brief description of the most important book / article which you have read with respect to the topic of the course.
Code v2 by Lawrence Lessig. A second edition of his book Code and Other Laws of Cyberspace that was posted as a wiki for others to contribute and released as Code v2. It describes the architecture of the internet and how the nets code along with other forces shape individuals actions. Freely licensed under the creative commons and downloadable here.


8. What do you hope and expect to learn from this course?
I hope to learn more about how information technologies affect people and the tasks they wish to accomplish.
