4. Why are you interested in taking this course?

There have been so many hugely important and interesting developments in all different technological fields, but I don't think that all of those techs have been fully utilized by society yet, and this class is great for exploring ways to apply amazing new tech to our society in new ways.

5. What courses / work activities / background knowledge do you have which might be relevant to this course?

I don't think anything in particular in my background is very relevant, I just have an interest in Digital and Social Systems.

6. Indicate your own digital literacy / fluency:
6.1. Describe your programming experience (languages, projects)

I know C++ mainly and will be getting better with Java and Python this semester. The only programming projects I have worked on have been in classes I have taken so far.

6.2. What applications are you familiar with (e.g. Photoshop, Canvas, Dreamweaver,...)?

Basic photoshop.

7 Give a brief description of the most important book / article which you have read with respect to the topic of the course.

Down and Out in The Magic Kingdom by Cory Doctorow. The book is based in a future society where everyone has computers integrated into their brains.

8. What do you hope and expect to learn from this course?

I hope to learn about interesting systems currently in use and know more about how these systems are implemented.
