7th (sorta)

4. Why are you interested in taking this course?
I am interested in this course because it takes the student out of the "theoretical" programming space that is CS courses and forces them into thinking about the impacts of what each program they create is going to have on society as a whole.

5. What courses / work activities / background knowledge do you have which might be relevant to this course?
I've been a CS and music major for 3 years at DU, and I've been working for Time Warner Cable for 4 months.

I am familiar with: Photoshop, Ableton Live, Soundforge, Acid, Finale,

7 Give a brief description of the most important book / article which you have read with respect to the topic of the course.
http://blog.wired.com/27bstroke6/2006/10/make_your_own_f.html This was an interesting topic about airline security and had some interesting implications about the fundamental flaws in the terror watch list. This article (and some follow up articles) showed that it was possible to create a boarding pass to get onto an airline terminal and what happened to the person who created this piece of software. While the article is a little old, I only stumbled upon it last week.

8. What do you hope and expect to learn from this course?
I expect to learn much, I hope to learn more.
