4. Why are you interested in taking this course?
Because the course description mentioned interactive systems and human computer interaction, which are a few of the things that I've been interested in as a field of study - understanding the needs and desires of the person/people using the software/system and being able to deliver that, as well as anticipating human behavior with the software/system being produced.


5. What courses / work activities / background knowledge do you have which might be relevant to this course?
My job first started me out working with scientists and researchers on capturing their stories and tracking the information given to create a collection of tagged files that ultimately would be placed into a searchable database that other scientists or the general public could easily use.


6. Indicate your own digital literacy / fluency:
6.1. Describe your programming experience (languages, projects)
C, C++, Perl, a bit of MySQL and PHP, scripting, some assembly language, the standard web-langauges (i.e. html, xml, css, etc.), and some Java.


6.2. What applications are you familiar with (e.g. Photoshop, Canvas, Dreamweaver,...)?
Photoshop (and most other Adobe products), Dreamweaver, ENVI, and things of the like.


7 Give a brief description of the most important book / article which you have read with respect to the topic of the course.
Haven't read any yet.


8. What do you hope and expect to learn from this course?
To gain a better understanding of methods and practices of human-computer interaction, meeting certain needs with technology development, and being able to better anticipate methods of user interfaces.
