Porter Assignment 11

The "microworld" is a safe haven where a child can tailor his or her space and create constraints. Such a space seems very individualistic in its cocoon-like nature. In considering designing at the level of the room, by contrast, there seems to be an opportunity to make these tools less individualistic and address the social aspects of development and learning. How can interaction with other children, as an important learning process, be fostered by artifacts in these environments?

I think this is an interesting and important question to consider as both the cognitive and social development in children are intertwined. It would be interesting to know more about what types of interactions new tools could be designed to promote.
