- It is easier to place levels on the map, no zooming/re-centering required

- The EDC calculates the total area for you. You can also see the view of the building in the EDC

- it is hard to make the totals--math

- It can be difficult to modify certain buildings, and the totals do not update smoothly.

- everyone can add a piece--people don't have to look for the special piece

- it is far easer. its limitations are outweighed by the problem of the math
