- 2. SketchUp
- User-extensible features of SketchUp like the Ruby API make it a great example of metadesign. 1) Do user-generated add-ons or functionality make it into future releases of SketchUp? 2) How and to what degree does the development team communicate with users?
- 3. 3D Warehouse
- Google products often feel less like individual pieces of software and more like parts of a larger integrated system. Google Earth, SketchUp and 3D Warehouse are a perfect example of this kind of convergence; they are designed to work seamlessly together exceeding the sum of their parts. It seems apparent that this is a calculated strategy. 1) Given Google's recent work on Chrome and Android, what is the next element of the system? Can we expect a tangible user interface sometime in the future? 2) I've noticed that Google the 3D Warehouse has been seeded with work by Google designers. Was this an effort to address gaps in the existing inventory or to lead design in a new direction? 3) What is the "strangest" model you've seen on 3DW?
