- 2. SketchUp
- Sketchup is an interesting 3d model creation tool that is easier to use (for the great unwashed) than CAD software. It still maintains quite a bit of power even though it doesn't nessicarily have all of the bells and whistles that a lot of CAD software does. However, recently the Spore Editor has been released which is another quite powerful, but simple enough for children to use easily. What lessons and techniques can be learned from the Spore editor? This question is relevant because it explores the HCI and ergonomics of Sketchup.
- 3. 3D Warehouse
- One can understand why Google would want to store models created by Sketchup that are Geo-referenced and can be super-imposed onto Google Earth or Google Maps. However, the 3D warehouse allows users to upload their models that have no reference to or relation to Google Earth / Maps (non-geo-referenced models). Why do this? Why "waste" the time and space? This question is relevant because there are some community undertones that have been created due to the fact that Google has allowed non-geo-referenced models into their 3D warehouse.
