- What other domains/applications does sketchup "play nice" (i.e. enable interoperability) with? I ask this because I'm trying to understand the scope of its use, is it just a toy application that lets people see their house in 3d in Google Earth, or is there some outside reason to use this product? I do see some information about using it for game level development, how viable is this?
- 3. 3D Warehouse
- I've recently been looking into theories of motivating factors that bring volunteers to open source projects. These include solving a personal problem and donating the results to the community because there's no extra cost and a "reputation economy" model where developers seek respect and "geek fame". Is there some way to foster such communities around 3d modeling efforts? Is it feasible to have an artifact that is being worked on over time by, say, tens of people? If such a community were to exist, are there tools for them to become aware of each other and coordinate their efforts?
