Assignment5RiegerStrzepek
To Do
- please work as a group (minimum: 2 members; max: 6 members) and submit one answer as a group (clearly identifying the members of your group)
Task 1
Wikis fall into this category. Compare Wikis as meta-design environments with another meta-design environment of your choice for which user-generated content is the defining feature.Task 2
Analyze in detail the following two Wikis:- the Wiki used for our course with which you are (or at least should be) very familiar http://ngw.cs.colorado.edu
- the Wiki for the research community in "Creativity and Information Technology" at: http://swiki.cs.colorado.edu:3232/CreativeIT
Group response
- 1. Members of the Group

- 2. Task 1
- There are many websites that resemble the base user-generated concepts of a wiki. One such site is Newgrounds.com. Newgrounds is home to a large array of Flash games, animations and audio. With their slogan being "Everything, By Everyone", it's clear that the site is built around user-generated content. The Flash Portal provides the users with the ability to submit their own Flash games and animations; allowing other users to view, rate and comment on them. Leading the creators to produce more content with the feedback of the users. Similarly, the Audio Portal allows artists to upload their own music for other users to critique or even use for their own games or animations. This interaction creates a community among the flash developers and promotes further content from everyone.
- Task 2
XWiki
Strengths:- Login, Search, Home and the Quick links easily pop out (didn't have to look around for them for very long at all)
- There are some occasional formatting errors. Text will run off of tables etc.
- The pages seem to load a bit slow, but this may not be a wiki specific issue.
- Some way to navigate around the wiki more effectively; maybe a more in depth drop down Menu for navigation.
CreativeIT
Strengths:- Simple and engaging Main Page
- Easy to navigate Center Menu on the Main Page
- Navigation is fast and intuitive
- Colorful theme
- Menu on the left, and Recent Changes on the right don't match the theme of the center Menu
- Login options and search capabilities at the top right didn't pop out initially (had to look around for them)
- An immediate way to create a new page (this may be because I don't have an account to login to)
