- 2. SketchUp
- SketchUp as an easy to use modeling program seems to fulfill the role to a tee. It seems like it was designed for CAD use, but clearly has applications elsewhere like in Google Earth. One of the other big uses of 3D modeling software is in game development. Most of the incumbent programs have in addition to modeling the capacity to rig and animate the models produced. Are there any plans to add these features to SketchUp and what approaches would be used to make these tasks easy to use as well? This question is relevant because it looks at the most important HCI aspect of SketchUp and asks whether there are plans to extrapolate that strength into related tasks.
- 3. 3D Warehouse
- What automated filtering processes are used to deal with the theoretically large amount of submissions to 3D Warehouse? Are there certain common or unrealistic shapes that are ignored? Is there a check against already submitted models? Google has a reputation for using smart systems to classify data in searches, mail and language so it'd be very interesting to know what is in place to handle something as complex as a 3D model. Automated systems designed to deal with large amounts of data a finite amount of people cannot handle is relevant to using technology for social systems.
