SketchUp and Google Lively

Google has another interesting product, in beta right now, Google Lively. The product is a 3D social network where users can customize avatars and living spaces. I am wondering if the Google Lively platform will support models created in SketchUp? This would allow users to create their own home furnishings and possibly even their own avatars using the same platform that Google used to populate Google Earth and their warehouse. SketchUp might have to be updated to enable better character creation, but it seems like a likely direction.

I have another, semi-technical question about Sketchup. I see than the files have their own file type: '.skp'. Does Google provide documentation that will allow 3rd parties to use .skp models in their applications?

Motivations

Our project group is investigating the motivations for contributing end-user content to systems like the 3D Warehouse (along with others). What, if any, are the extrinsic rewards of contributing to this system?

Searching through cathedrals in France, I found that several of these had been created by the same user, kevin51340. He has over 100 highly detailed models in the system. Is there an incentive model where interested parties (local tourist interests, businesses looking for advertisement) pay individuals/companies to build models for them (as Prof Mark Dubin was doing in SecondLife)?

Along another vein, can models be downloaded, edited/tinkered with, and then resubmitted to the system in an improved state? How is credit assigned in these cases? Are there any copyright protections for submissions within the system?
