To-Do

please discuss / address the following issues: claim: "Few of today's classroom focus on helping students develop as creative thinkers"

  1. Do you agree / disagree with this statement of the article?
  2. From your personal experience: which are the three most prominent events / activities in your life as a students (in school, in the university) which have helped you to become a more creative thinker?
    1. Analyze these three events by elaborating your description with the framework defined by the creative thinking spiral.
    2. For each of the processes did you have and use tools to support your activity?
  3. Discuss whether the processes of the creative thinking spiral are or will influence your research in your course project and in which way.
1. Do you agree with the statement?
Yes, i do agree. All of the schools i attended never had woodshop or any other type of creative class. Alot of this had to do with the strict educational requirements that the California universities had in place for acceptance into their system of colleges. This forced the high schools to fill students schedules with language, history, math, and science classes. These strict college requirements is what ultimately guided the courses offered at my high school. In my grade school, we did have alot of interactive programming and computer activities, but often times they were reserved for the 'smarter' students.
2. Analyze the three most prominent events / activities in your life as a students (in school, in the university) which have helped you to become a more creative thinker
The first programming i ever did was on my calculator. I got a TI-85 in 5th grade. I would make lots of programs on it and even made some simple games. I ended up getting a TI-89, which i still have, and this calculator had alot more possibilites in terms of programming. I took alot of programming classes in high school as well. Another activity that helped my creativity was high school speech and debate. It helped me learn different ways of expressing argument and finding creative ways to argue for certain positions. the third activity that helped my creativity alot has been using photoshop, and now adobe illustrator. I had never used these programs until about a year ago, and they work really well and help me express my artistic creativity.
3. Discuss whether the processes of the creative thinking spiral are or will influence your research in your course project and in which way.
This creative thinking spiral reminds me of the way that i do code iterations at my current work. I have to think(imagine) of a solution or bug fix, implement it(create), then test it(play). We then send out the newe version to customers and get their feed back. Eventually i refactor(reflect) my code, and then solve more problems(imagine).
