Project: Extending reflection into the social network: Linking Wikis with the Envisionment and Discovery Collaboratory

The current reflection space in the EDC is created by the system developers and content generated from users activity in the action space. This project wold draw on the participatory Web to extend the EDC to support participants as a social network both within face-to-face contexts and beyond.

Design issues would be configured and arranged in wiki websites that would be integrated with the EDC interactive table and Google Earth. The results of design sessions are also captured in the customized wiki websites. The wiki websites serve as reflection spaces and allow those who could not participate in the meeting to view the sketch in Google Earth and provide their comments and ideas as feedback. The collected feedback is then linked to the design, and future discussions of the design activate display of the comments that are contextualized to the design elements.

One aspect of the project would be to develop mechanisms to record and index all user actions and opinions from face-to-face sessions, as well as mechanisms to retrieve and revisit relevant voices on demand.
