Mindstuff - Assignment 11 Microworld: Can you elaborate on some examples of "communicating systems of pieces" that are in development or simply those that you see as fertile potential. What are some techniques for converting physical structures to digital models? what is a number rod? Mathland: I envision mathland artifacts as underdesigned media that will encourage the child to collaborate with parents and teachers as well as among friends and an internet based user group. This repository would encourage interest as contributors develop social capital from their history of submittals. Also exploration stimulated by an online repository of creations. How would differentiate the transitional objects that you are proposing from the educational toys of today? Examples that come to mind are legos, plado, heath kits, etc. Alternatively, how are you proposing to improve upon the toys? Would you take issue with labeling these educational technologies as toys?
