    This project could be really cool if we are not restricted to the "networks" given above. I think it would be fun to look at different open source communities (i.e. different projects) and analyze (i) the social constructs that people use to contribute (e.g. can everyone commit or does the project have a social hierarchy in place) and (ii) see if we can use a notion of the social constructs to aid in our understanding of an individual's impact. Open source is a cool domain to study because with a little effort we can get commit logs that allow building of social networks of individuals as well as history of the individual. This would be interesting to study and getting / parsing this data would not be that difficult.
